Our planet is experiencing more intense heat, bigger storms, longer droughts, increased flooding, raging wildfires, melting glaciers, and rising sea levels. And yes, man-made greenhouse gases are the major reason our climate is changing. It's been proven beyond all reasonable dought.

The Town of Hyde Park adopted in 2015 the New York State Climate Smart Communities Pledge in recognition of the risks climate change presents to infrastructure, private property, economic activity and natural resources in our town. Participation in the New York State Climate Smart Communities (CSC) program increases Town access to grants and other resources.

Our Repair Cafes now include battery recycling and air-conditioner recycling. Bring your single-use or rechargeable batteries for safe recycling. Bring your air conditioners or mini-refrigerators to have their collant safely removed, and the hardware recycled.

Electric School Buses. On May 20th, Hyde Park voters rejected the opportunity to buy 9 Electric school buses and chargers at a cost of $0 after grants. Compared to the cost of 7 gas/diesel buses after grants at $406,000.
