Welcome
Our planet is experiencing more intense heat, bigger storms, longer droughts, increased flooding, raging wildfires, melting glaciers, and rising sea levels. And yes, man-made greenhouse gases are the major reason our climate is changing.
The Town of Hyde Park adopted in 2015 the New York State Climate Smart Communities Pledge in recognition of the risks climate change presents to infrastructure, private property, economic activity and natural resources in our town.
Participation in the New York State Climate Smart Communities (CSC) program increases Town access to grants and other resources.
Our response to Climate Change provides an opportunity to:
- Save money.
- Increase the availability of clean, cheap, renewable energy.
- Build livable & secure communities.
- Start and support climate change responsive business and industry.
- Improve infrastructure resilience.
- Increase access to State grants and other resources.
