Our planet is experiencing more intense heat, bigger storms, longer droughts, increased flooding, raging wildfires, melting glaciers, and rising sea levels. And yes, man-made greenhouse gases are the major reason our climate is changing.

The Town of Hyde Park adopted in 2015 the New York State Climate Smart Communities Pledge in recognition of the risks climate change presents to infrastructure, private property, economic activity and natural resources in our town.

Our response to Climate Change provides an opportunity to:

Participation in the New York State Climate Smart Communities (CSC) program increases Town access to grants and other resources.

News

Support Electric School Buses. Hyde Park schools have the opportunity to buy 17 Electric school buses and chargers at a cost reduction of over 94% with grants. This makes the final cost about $30,000 per bus, compared to the cost of a gas/diesel bus after grants at $60,000. Here are some facts about those buses.
